Boyle Family made a number of these studies as part of the "London Series" in the 1960s. They had not made many more of this type of work until their exhibition at the Hayward Gallery in London sponsored by the Westminster Council in 1986. Given special permission to work in the center of the city where the Westminster Council was located, they had an opportunity to expand the neighborhoods of London they could work in and access with relative ease. The first "Westminster Series" study was a 12 x 6-foot piece made for the Hayward exhibition and this along with several new, larger works from other series had a great impact. The larger works have a huge physical presence.Provenance
